Curraghmore Evenings

The evening of December 23rd 2020 provided a nice sunset, which was predictable                               due to the weather and cloud formations.

The 2020 Christmas Tractor Run from Carrick-on-Suir

The lit-up tractor run is probably one of the most popular events of local Christmases, but due to Covid-19, was not allowed through Carrick-on-Suir this year due to possible overcrowding and lack of social distancing.  Thus, a limited number came through Piltown, Fiddown, Portlaw, etc.  The night was BITTERLY cold, but most were well wrapped up.  Thanks to all the drivers for giving their valuable time on the night before Christmas  Eve!

Friend Davy O'Connor viewing the scene.  Still more of the fallen wall was behind the photographer!

The scene, with a good view now of the former Malcomson mansion, attracted many                                  sightseers including Peter Grifin Jnr. and his young daughter. (with permission).

Christmas Mass Times in parish.

For your information, off the parish FaceBook pages:

CHRISTMAS MASSES IN PORTLAW/BALLYDUFF PARISH.
Friends, in keeping with the continuing restrictions that we are following during these difficult times, to help accommodate parishioners this Christmas season, we will be celebrating our Christmas Masses over a number of days.
Masses will be celebrated from Tuesday, December 22nd to Sunday December 27th. We would ask that Parishioners consider attending one of our many Christmas Masses other than one on Christmas Eve or Christmas Day. Every Mass celebrated over these days will be identical in terms of music, readings, prayers and blessings and will fulfill a person’s Christmas religious observance .
Christmas Mass Times in Portlaw:
Tuesday December 22nd - 6.00pm
Wednesday December 23rd - 6.00pm
Thursday December 24th - 11.00am & 7.00pm

The Christmas Collection for the support of the Priests of the Parish and Diocese will be taken up at all Masses. I thank you for your continuing support and generosity which you always show Fr. Mick and I and all our colleagues across the Diocese in so many ways.
Friends, we look forward to welcoming you to our Christmas celebrations over a number of days this year, as we do our very best to care and look after each other in this most extraordinary year.
Blessings and Peace.

The gloom over the country!

. . . and gloomy it has been for months, thanks to Covid-19, and this was the light at 3.40 pm today.
However, now with much lifting of restrictions, shopping restored, Christmas lights, and more,
it should be a brighter Christmas!

(Suggestion:   Look up Brendan Kennelly's famous poem, My Dark Fathers, on Internet.
Most appropriate, after last night's screening of the Great Famine documentary on RTE1)

The Christmas Lights . . . working on them!
