Roadside Beauty

                                                                                                                                                                    This display can be seen every year apast Tower Hill Cottages.

Flowers' Name: Lesser Celandine
Scientific Name: Ficaria verna ssp verna
Irish Name: Grán arcáin
Family Group: Ranunculaceae

The Lesser Celandines have eight petals, unlike other somewhat similar flowers which have less.

'There is a Flower, the Lesser Celandine,
That shrinks, like many more, from cold and rain;
And, at the first moment that the sun may shine,
Bright as the sun itself, 'tis out again!'

From The Small Celandine      by William Wordsworth (1770-1850).
I had the pleasure of seeing places associated with Wordsworth a few years ago in the English Lake District.

For the time that's in it!

 Full quotation:

"When I despair, I remember that all through history, the ways of truth and love have always won. There have been tyrants and murderers, and for a time they can seem invincible, but in the end they always fall. Think of it, always."

- Mahatma Gandhi (1869 - 1948).

(If interested, you may freely copy and share the above anti-Putin graphic and full quotation underneath it, without changes, and use it as you wish)
